In Lieu Of Expulsion
The Kauffman Youth Development Institute In Lieu Of Expulsion Program will include students referred by school districts within the service area. The Institute will meet the needs of all at-risk students within the the boundaries of the service area. Working on the premise that all students can learn and every learner possesses multiple intelligences, an interdisciplinary program best serves the need of the students. Some of the components of this interdisciplinary program will be: Formal and/or informal assessment of students skills at in-take. An individual educational plan for each student. Basic skills program. Competency-based. Computer-enhanced. Small classroom enrollment with aide for small group instruction or one-on-one tutoring. Comprehensive parent involvement. Conflict resolution program. Partnerships with community agencies and businesses. Out-sourcing for special projects.
