Letter from a ParentDear Mr. Smith, This letter is in regard to my son's experience with your program. As you know, last year David was on the fast track to failure. He had been expelled from his eight grade class at Tallmadge Middle School. His self esteem was gone and he had labeled himself as a bad kid who couldn't learn. After appealing his expulsion to the Tallmadge School Board and by the grace of God, David found himself in your program. At first he didn't like it and his attitude was sullen. But after a week he told me he never wanted to go to school anywhere else. David thrived on the structure and discipline that provided him with the learning environment he needed. It really is unfortunate that the public schools do not provide a like environment. With your authority and guidance and the careful tutelage of Mrs. Gray, David met success and regained his selfconfidence. He was especially proud of writing a children's alphabet book and reading it to the kids at a Kent elementary school. Today David is in high school and doing well. He takes his schoolwork seriously and does his homework. He has been "adopted" by a senior boy who acts as his mentor. This boy goes to our church and I couldn't ask for David to have a better friend. David looks back at his time with your program as a turning point in his life. It certainly is. We both owe you and Mrs. Gray a debt of gratitude. I hope someday the right people will take notice of what you are doing and provide the necessary resources to expand your programs so that you can help other children like you helped David . Thank you and God Bless You. |
